The Scunthorpe group of Advanced Motorists initially started out as a sub-group of Grimsby back in 1976. Check out our new page "Barrie's Ambition" for more information on the groups origin.

In 1977  having achieved the required quota of 50 test passes we became a group in our own right. Since that day we have enrolled the help of many willing volunteers who not only act as group observers, but also on committee, at our social events, at shows etc. We currently have some 180 members.

We are affiliated to the National I.A.M. in London, and are a registered charity.

You can join our group through the "Skill for Life" package. As from the 1st May 2009 the cost will be £149.  You will get everything you need to help you pass the advanced test and become a full member of the I.A.M.    Have a look at our People page for a contact number and get in touch.

Our main aim is to train members of the public to Advanced driving standards, thus promoting  road safety.

We also hold a social evening every month, we meet at Redbourne club, Cemetry road, Scunthorpe where we have a variety of guest speakers to entertain us. We also hold a raffle,  and this is the place where all the associate members who have just passed their advanced test are presented with their hard earned certificates. The meetings are open to everyone, members and non-members.
